The vocabulary of body and voice : the theatrical relation

From elements of our actor’s training (movements coming from Kalaripayattu, specific work on the articulation of the different parts of the body, plastic work, alone or in couples, individual and polyphonic vocal work…), we will create slowly a lexicon of actions. This process we will be put in perspective with a time of exploratino dedicated to “life on stage”, in order to build a work on the listening and dynamics of the connection which could allow the birth of a common form.

This work is meant for 5 to 15 actors, dancers or singers, professional or not, and should last from 12 hours to 8 days.

Several variants of this work were already proposed, namely in Aubusson (Le pied an plancher), Paris (La Maison verte), Marseille (L’Impulsion), and Lavauzelle.

From 7th to 28th of January, the team of SPT Lavauzelle goes to South-India, trivandrum, to the source of Kalaripayattu, for a closed worksession.

From 12th to 17th of August, Lavauzelle gathered 15 participants and leaders from France, Poland, India, Italy, Greece and Australia to follow 4 workshops – separate but offering possibilities of contacts.

We were lucky to have a great quality group, both of artistic and human level, and had the possibility to work very intensively thanks to the quality of the place. Already, we are thinking to prolong this meeting through work.

In 2013, we plan a worksession at the same period, as well as, in order to touch the regional population, a session outside of the summer.

Thanks to Delphine Mininger for her priceless help, and to Matej Matejka for sharing some of the works of his studio through films.

We invite you to take part to our first program of events, in the centre of France, in the wild environment of Limousin

> 2nd August: lecture-demonstration by the members of the Studio Kalari, at 8 pm, at LaMétive, lieu international de résidence de création artistique, Moutier d’Ahun.

> 3rd-7th August, at Ahun: 2 worksessions that can be combined or taken separately:
– From 10 am to noon: kalaripayattu (Southern style), led by the members of the Studio Kalari (Sankar Lal Sivasankaran Nair and Justyna Rodzińska-Nair); www.studiokalari.art.pl
– From 2 pm to 6 pm: corporeal mime/physical theatre, led by le Théâtre de l’homme ivre (Marie-Geneviève L’Her); www.thi.lavauzelle.org

> On the 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th August, the members of the Studio Kalari will lead a kalaripayattu worksession (from 2 pm to 3 pm and/or from 5 pm to 6 pm).

> On the 5th August, from 6 pm: first opening of the Site for theatre practices Lavauzelle, at Janaillat, with a work demonstration of the Studio Kalari, a presentation of the performance “Marie” by le Theâtre de l’homme ivre, as well as a presentation of the projects, aims and ressources of the Site for theatre practices Lavauzelle.
